Fingering weight yarn (about 100 grams)

3 mm hook

Stitch markers

Scissors

Stitches used:

ss –  slip stitch

ch-chain

hdc-half double crochet

dc- double crochet

fpdc- front post double crochet

bpdc- back post double crochet

dc inc – 2 dc in the st

FDC – Make a slip knot and place it on your hook.

Chain four.

Yarn over, insert hook into the center of the first chain and the loop on the back, slightly to the left.

Pull up a loop (three loops on hook).

Yarn over, pull through one loop (three loops on hook).

Stitch patterns

Mesh in rounds

Round 1 – ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), skip next st, dc in next st; *(ch 1, skip next st, dc in next st); repeat around, ss on the third ch of beginning ch. Repeat for the pattern

Mesh in rows

Row 1 – ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), skip next st, dc in next st; *(ch 1, skip next st, dc in next st); repeat until end of row, turn. Repeat for the pattern.

Rice stitch in Rows

  1. Chain 2 and turn your work.
  2. *(fpdc around the next post, bpdc around the next post) repeat * until the end of the row
  3. Hdc in last st and turn.

Repeat for the pattern

Rice stitch in rounds

  1. Chain 2; *(fpdc around the next post, bpdc around the next post) repeat * around
  2. Ss in second ch of the beginning ch.

Repeat Ch 2, turn; fpdc in bpdc of previous row; bpdc in fpdc in previous row

INSTRUCTIONS

Yoke

Round 1 – Foundation double crochet (FDC) 300, ss in the first FDC; turn (use stitch markers every 20 stitches in case you lost count!)

Round 2 – ch 3 (counts as dc) dc in next 9 st, 3 dc in next st, dc in next 68 st, 3dc in next st, dc in next 10 st, 3 dc in next st, dc in next 68 st, ss in the third ch of beginning ch. (308)

Rounds 3 – 6 Work mesh in the round increasing in each corner. Please refer to the illustration for the corner increase to be worked on the 3-dc cluster. On areas you don’t see increases, work the regular mesh pattern. Do not cut off yarn. 

shoulder – 1

Shoulder

Ss to the corner.

Rows 1-10 follow mesh pattern in rows

Fasten off yarn.

Ss on the other side of the yoke.

Rows 1-10 Follow mesh pattern in rows.

Do not cut off yarn.

Jinstitches – 4

Body

Turn the piece to work on the front.

Row 1 – Ch 3 (counts as dc), *(2dc in next ch space, dc in next st) repeat *9 times; **(dc in next ch sp, dc in next st) , repeat ** 17 times; repeat *10 times. (97 dc)

Rows 2- 12 Follow rice stitch in rows.

Fasten off.

Jinstitches – 3

Ss at the back and follow instructions for the front.

Do not cut off yarn.

Note: You will work in rounds from here on.

          You may have to add an extra stitch to maintain the rice stitch pattern.

Rows 13 – 24 Follow rice stitch pattern in rounds.

Rows 25 – ch 3 (counts as dc) dc in each st; ss in

Row 26 – ch 3 (counts as dc), dc 14, dc inc, *(dc in next 15 st, dc inc); repeat * around until 3 stitches are left; dc in next 2 st, inc in the last st.

Rowa 27- 52 – Follow mesh pattern in rounds.

Edging

Round 1 – dc in each dc, dc inc in each ch sp

Round 2 – sc in each stitch

Fasten off.

Sleeve edging

in the mesh part

Round 2 – sc around. Fasten off.

Neckline edging

Ss in any dc, sc around.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
